Choice Card terms and conditions

The full terms and conditions are available on The Local Choice website – www.thelocalchoice.co.za/choice. Please ensure that all staff is familiar with these rules:

  • The Local Choice Rewards Program, known as the ‘’Choice Card’’, is operated by The Local Choice (Pty) Ltd (‘The Local Choice”).
  • The Choice Card is issued by, and remains the property of The Local Choice who reserves the right to decline, issue and withdraw the Choice Card rewards program or any rewards offered at any time.  The Local Choice reserves the right to alter or amend the conditions of operation of the Choice Card.
  • Member data and personal information is protected in terms of the relevant legislation.
  • By joining the Choice Card rewards program a member has agreed to these terms and conditions, as amended or replaced by The Local Choice from time to time.
  • Terms and conditions must be checked regularly and are available in store or online at www.thelocalchoice.co.za/choice and may also be requested telephonically through the Choice Card Customer Service Careline on 0861 787 326 or card@thelocalchoice.net.
  • Any person who does not agree to be bound by the Choice Card Terms and Conditions may not participate in the Choice Card. Existing Choice Card members who do not agree to be bound by the Choice Card Terms and Conditions, including amendments thereto from time to time, must notify The Local Choice of such refusal in writing or telephonically through the Choice Card Customer Service Careline on 0861 787 326 or card@thelocalchoice.net, in which event such member’s participation in the Choice Card may be terminated and/or such person’s Choice Card cancelled.
  • Persons applying for a Choice Card must be 18 years or older and must be a South African citizen or have a valid work permit. Customers are required to provide a valid identity document issued in their country of origin and South African mobile number. The Local Choice’s right to decline to register any person and/or earn any rewards, on whatever ground, is expressly reserved.
  • To earn Choice Card rewards in store for a qualifying transaction the member’s Choice Card must be presented (via the physical card or the member’s mobile app) at the point of sale at the time of transaction or the mobile number of the member can be supplied to the cashier.
  • In the event of any abuse or fraud being committed by any person in respect of the Choice Card and/or conduct involving the abuse of rewards, The Local Choice reserves the right to take appropriate action against the responsible person and the Choice Card revoked.
  • Only the registered Choice Card member/holder swiping the card at the time of the purchase transaction will be awarded rewards.
  • The Local Choice reserves the right to make certain products and tender types exempt from the earning of rewards.
  • No rewards will be earned or awarded in respect of any goods and/or services where the earning or awarding of such rewards are prohibited by any legislation in the Republic of South Africa and, where applicable other jurisdictions. Items excluded from earning rewards include, but are not limited to:
    • Baby formula, as prohibited by legislation;
    • gift card;
    • plastic bags; and
    • prescription medication;
  • Lost, stolen, or damaged cards should be reported to the Choice Card Customer Service Careline. Lost, stolen or damaged cards will be replaced at The Local Choice pharmacies on presentation of positive identification.
  • In order to keep Choice Card holders notified of available rewards on promotions as well as other program benefits, The Local Choice Pharmacies (Pty) Ltd, will:
    • provide the rewards earned for each individual sale, on the bottom of the till receipt
    • process the Choice Card holders’ personal information on a central computer database
    • make total rewards earned available through mobile app
    • send Choice Card holder’s electronic marketing material to inform members of special offers and products that may be of interest to them.
  • The Local Choice reserves the right to suspend any Choice Card member’s profile should the account remain inactive for any period longer than 3 years or such period as may be determined by The Local Choice.
  • The Choice Card’s rewards earned for transactions where goods are later returned will be deducted from your Choice Card account as applicable, and are subject to The Local Choice Pharmacies returns policy. In order to make an exchange or return for purchases, the original cash register receipt must be presented at the time of the exchange or return.
  • Choice Card holders may receive instant discounts on selected products in The Local Choice pharmacies. These promotions will be available for specified periods from time to time and subject to stock availability. The Local Choice reserves the right to retract any awards through its loyalty partners or service providers or otherwise earned through the Choice Card rewards.
  • Choice Card members may opt-out of any direct marketing received from The Local Choice should he/she so elect, by notifying The Local Choice thereof in writing to card@thelocalchoice.net, alternatively, telephonically via Choice Card Customer Careline on 0861 787 326 or via the opt-out instructions in the various communication channels.
  • Certain Choice Card promotions will only be sent to you by e-mail, sms or via our apps. It is the Choice Card member’s responsibility to inform The Local Choice of any changes to his/her personal information. Please ensure that we always have your correct details to ensure that you receive your Choice Card rewards.
  • We use your personal information to create a profile for you. We keep your personal information private, and only disclose to other companies with your written consent. To learn more about our personal information policy, please visit http://www.thelocalchoice.co.za/choice/
  • Choice Card members have the right, in accordance with the relevant legislation, to (a) obtain access to his/her personal information held by The Local Choice; (b) to request the correction, destruction or deletion of his/her personal information held by The Local Choice; and (c) to object to the processing of his/her personal information. In the case of a Choice Card member objecting the capture and processing of his/her personal information such person’s Choice Card membership will be terminated.
